Tribute to William Gronow-Davis
23/09/2015 - We are saddened to announce the passing of our Patron William Gronow-Davis.
William became ill in June this year struggling with emphysema. He began to get more unwell and was admitted to hospital where he progressively became weaker. He asked to be discharged and was taken home on Friday last week. He died in the early hours of Sunday (20th September) morning with his close family by his side.
DorSAR could not have had a better Patron than William who, following a search near his estate in 2008 actively supported and promoted DorSAR in so many ways.
Shown below are a few memories we have of a true Gentleman.
The last AGM was hosted by William in February 2015, where he treated us all to his wedding venue at the Larmer Tree, notably the most lavish AGM in our history. Pictured below are a couple of images of William presenting DorSAR members with the long service certificates. Firstly presenting our Chairman and then the group photo of all recipients.
Earlier significant memories include the The 2013 Patrons Exercise held the weekend of the 5 & 6th of October on the Rushmore Estate.
DorSAR would certainly not be where it is today had it not received Williams support, of which we are and remain truly grateful.
